Description
Island grids, independent power plants, remote industrial zones and large factory expansions all need the same thing from a power station: megawatts of continuous output, hour after hour, with the redundancy to keep supply stable while units are serviced. MPMC builds containerised diesel and gas generator sets specifically for this continuous-duty role, and has delivered power station projects from 1.2 MW to more than 20 MW across Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
Choosing the Right Generator Architecture for a Power Station
Unit Size and Engine Configuration
MPMC’s containerised power station platform covers single-engine units from 800 kVA to 3,750 kVA, powered by Cummins, Perkins, Baudouin, MTU, Scania, SME, Volvo or SDEC engines; twin-engine units from 1,250 kVA to 3,000 kVA with Baudouin, Scania or Perkins engines; and four-engine 1,600 kVA units powered by Scania, all with Stamford or Leroy-Somer alternators. Within the Cummins line-up, prime ratings run from 1,000 kVA on the KTA38-G5 to 2,000 kVA on the QSK60-G4, and up to 2,281.25 kVA at 60 Hz on the QSK60-G7.
Continuous Duty and Multi-Unit Redundancy
All units are designed to ISO 8528 for continuous operation, with cooling optimised for ambient temperatures of 50°C and above. Multiple units run in parallel with intelligent load sharing through DSE or DEIF AGC controllers, delivering N+X redundancy, master-standby rotation and redundancy designed into every level of the plant, while independent black-start capability lets island and remote plants restart without an external grid.

High-Voltage Output for Long Distribution Runs
For island industrial zones and large campuses, MPMC’s MCLS2000H(S)-1 delivers 2,000 kVA prime at 11,000 V and 50 Hz, enabling direct high-voltage distribution with lower transmission losses over long cable runs. MPMC has also delivered 6 kV output on MTU-powered units in the UAE and high-voltage island-mode systems with SF6 gas-insulated vacuum circuit breakers and neutral grounding resistors for oilfield power stations.
Fuel Flexibility for Lower-Carbon Power Stations
The same containerised platform runs on diesel, natural gas, methanol or biofuel at B35 and above. MPMC’s 18 MW biodiesel power plant in Indonesia, built from 18 containerised 1 MW Cummins KTA50-GS8 units on B35, lowers lifecycle CO2 by up to 85% compared with petroleum diesel and complies with RED II and RFS standards, while a separate 21.6 MW island power station in Indonesia runs entirely on biodiesel.
This full-spectrum fuel flexibility lets developers select the fuel that best matches local supply, cost and carbon targets for each plant while keeping the same proven containerised platform, the same controls and the same factory testing regime.

From Plant Design to Commissioning
For power station projects MPMC provides an end-to-end scope covering design consultation, product customisation, factory testing in its CNAS-accredited test centre, logistics and commissioning. Plants can also add HBD-A battery storage on the same SCADA/EMS platform for virtual synchronous generator mode, grid-forming, black start and peak shaving, with remote monitoring and Starlink satellite backup for sites run by compact operating teams.
The SCADA platform supports real-time remote monitoring and control, alarm management, maintenance work orders with spare-parts warehouse management, and automated monthly and annual reports, storing up to ten years of operating data on an SL3-level cybersecurity framework. Engine and alternator servicing is supported through the global networks of Perkins, Cummins, MTU, Baudouin, Scania, Stamford, Leroy-Somer and MPMC’s other partners, giving plant owners access to local authorised service throughout the life of the station.
